Biography

Dr. Roberto Rossi holds a B.Eng. and a M.Eng. from the University of Bologna (Italy), and a Ph.D. from the University College Cork (Ireland). He is currently a Reader in Management Science at the University of Edinburgh (UK) and Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.

He actively collaborates with universities and research centers in Ireland (4C), Turkey (Hacettepe University and Izmir University of Economics), Spain (University of Malaga), the Netherlands (WUR) and the US (San Francisco university). He has also collaborated and/or co-authored papers with researchers from well established industrial research laboratories such as the Bell Labs and the IBM Research.

He has taken part to a number of European research projects on topics such as logistics modeling in meat production, microbiological risk assessment in global food chains and value chain research in telecommunications.

Research Interests

He has expertise in a variety of fields such as decision making under uncertainty, risk management, stochastic constraint programming, hybrid metaheuristics, inventory control, supply chain management, production planning and scheduling.

His research has appeared in international journals, such as Artificial Intelligence, Constraints, the European Journal of Operational Research, the INFORMS Journal on Computing, the International Journal on Production Economics and others. He also regularly reviews articles for these journals and presents peer reviewed works at leading international conferences. He has over fifty peer reviewed intellectual contributions.
