The Cervantes Chair at The University of Edinburgh is delighted to host the 34th International Conference of ASELE (Association for the Teaching of Spanish as a foreign language), and the 10th conference of ELEUK (UK Association for the Teaching of Spanish in Higher and Adult Education).

The conference will be wide-reaching and expansive, with features such as:

- Three keynote speakers - Asunción Gómez-Pérez (Spanish Royal Academy), Aris Moreno Clemons (University of Tennessee) and Francisco Moreno-Fernández (Global Observatory of Spanish Language)

- Prestigious guests of honour such as Rosa Montero (journalist and writer, Premio Nacional de las Letras), Miguel Falomir (Director of the Prado Museum) and Luis García Montero (Director of the Cervantes Institute)

- A round table dedicated to perspectives on Spanish as a heritage language in Europe

- A symposium on Spanish language teaching in Latin America

- Invited speakers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru

- 130 papers, 30 workshops, and 6 posters

- +350 delegates

The conference's country of honour this year is Brazil, and as such it will feature a large number of Brazilian delegates, as well as a jazz concert to celebrate the country.

Themes covered at the conference will include artificial intelligence, social justice, linguistic diversity, transmedia literacies and genres, and integrating cultural, literary and artistic contents in the classroom.
