Description

The focus of the course was to instruct on the background and principles for genomic prediction with relevant bioinformatics tools. Participants were able to analyze real data to ensure proper understanding of the theory. Particularly, John's contribution “Genomic Selection Applied to Breeding Programs” focused on the benefits of genomic selection in plant breeding over a traditional ‘Black box’ brute force approach and the possibility of increasing genetic gain even more with the addition of Promotion of Alleles by Genome Editing (PAGE) to a traditional genomic selection breeding program.
