This talk will discuss some of the major improvements in medical and interventional therapies, as well as technological developments to which veterinary cardiology is especially suited. There will be a focus on how to apply clinical cardiology research in general practice, and what advances we can look forward to over the next decade.
• Recognise the crucial role that thorough history taking, comprehensive physical examination and good quality chest radiographs still play in veterinary cardiology
• Appreciate the role clinical research makes in diagnostic and therapeutic development
• Apply technological advances to investigate potential cardiac disease
• Select dogs with myxomatous mitral valve disease that are likely to benefit from pimobendan before developing congestive heart failure
• Advise clients regarding cutting edge investigative and interventional techniques available at specialist referral centres
