This event launched the academic element of the ARTIST ROOMS Research Partnership, with presentations by all academic and museum partners across the research areas of materials, conservation, engagement, learning, media and art history. Funding was provided by the Royal Society of Edinburgh. It was Introduced by Prof Chris Breward, Principal ECA and Vice Principal Creative Industries & Performing Arts, University of Edinburgh. The programme was as follows: The Material Collection (Technical and Conservation Research)-Dr Andrea Hamilton (University of Edinburgh): Engineering and the ARTIST ROOMS material collection-Dr Anita Quye (University of Glasgow): The fabric of ARTIST ROOMS: textile material investigations-Dr Erma Hermens (University of Glasgow): Authenticity and contemporary art Engagement and Learning-Chris Ganley (ARTIST ROOMS, National Galleries of Scotland/Tate): ARTIST ROOMS Learning-Dr Siân Bayne & Jen Ross (University of Edinburgh): Leaky boundaries: learning and engagement with ARTIST ROOMS-Dr Areti Galani (University of Newcastle): Learning through engagement Art and its Histories-Dr Glyn Davis (University of Edinburgh): Stillness in the films and photography of Andy Warhol-Dr Christian Weikop (University of Edinburgh): Anselm Kiefer: Heroic Symbols-Julie-Ann Delaney (National Galleries of Scotland): Sol LeWitt Wall Painting No.1136-Pat Fisher (University of Edinburgh): Jenny Holzer: a Talbot Rice case study. Break-out groups held discussions on the following ARTIST ROOMS Collection works: Sol LeWitt, Wall Painting No.1136 ; Anselm Kiefer, Heroic Symbols; Andy Warhol, Grace Jones; Francesca Woodman, Untitled.There were also continuous film screenings by ARTIST ROOMS artists.
