Description
This invited talk will explore social aspects of doxycycline use for STI prevention (aka DoxyPEP) amongst cisgender women, including how/why issues of vaginitis and yeast infections enter into the broader discussion about the normalisation of DoxyPEP in the general UK population. I will consider how these issues intersect with biosocial concerns about disease elimination, threshold transmissions, and living with chronic infections, including UTIs, and argue that further medical and social research must be pursued to understand how/why cisgender women may make decisions about using (or discontinuing) DoxyPEP for long-term STI prevention.Period | 26 Aug 2025 → 27 Aug 2025 |
