Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesPublic Engagement – Festival/Exhibition

On September 18th 2018 we held a film screening and ‘blethers’ event at Wester Hailes Library titled ‘Changing Perspectives: Wester Hailes- Films of New Town Utopia’. This event was carried out in collaboration with WHALE ARTS, Wester Hailes Library, and filmmaker Shona Thomson. The evening began with a selection of sections from the 2017 film New Town Utopia, and was followed in the second half of the evening by a selection of five films taken from the WHALE VHS Archive, of films produced, created and directed by local residents, selected by Shona Thomson. The event acted as a preliminary event for ‘Changing Perspectives: Wester Hailes Film and Moving Image Festival’, October 15th-20th, and in this way contributed towards to beginning of a series of events aimed at changing ideas about the paces in which we live. The screenings were followed by memory-sharing, together with an opportunity for participants to explore the Tower Block UK exhibition and Museum Box, which were also in place at Wester Hailes Library for two weeks.
