Description
Event organised by STAR Student Action for Refugees in collaboration with Solidaritee — Playfair Library, University of Edinburgh, 25 April 2022.Climate change drives internal and international displacement, and has devastating effects on those already displaced, worsening living conditions and making it more difficult to return home. Those forced to flee due to natural disasters and slow onset environmental change currently lack any formal definition, recognition or protection under international law. While there have been recent advances in the development of policies on climate-related migration, and recognition of this issue as a global priority, the implementation of these regionally and nationally is essential.
Panellists: Federica G Pedriali (School of Languages Literatures and Cultures); Ulrich Schmiedel (School of Divinity); Alex Staniforth (Green Party, City of Edinburgh Councillor).
