This year-long curated series of dialogues and actions responds to Race: Decolonised Transformations – Confronting the University of Edinburgh’s History and Legacies of Enslavement and Colonialism, authored by the Research and Engagement Working Group (REWG) as part of the University’s Race Review. Hosted by the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA), the programme brings together architects, urbanists, historians, and artists to critically engage with the material and spatial legacies of colonialism as they shape both the university and the wider built environment. Through public lectures, workshops, and collective actions, the series seeks to open space for reflection on how colonial histories are inscribed in architecture and urbanism, and to consider how design education might foster more reparative, inclusive, and transformative futures.
