Description
The context of this project is rooted in understanding resilient strategies from ‘the ground up’ for current hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, flooding and landslides, which combined with high levels of social vulnerability, are creating areas exposed to high levels of risk. The proposed activity is aimed at exploring these phenomena and sharing experiences in relation to emerging co-created strategies for reducing vulnerability and enhancing adaptation and resilience in Latin American communities. Our focus is on those programmes and approaches that result from a horizontal dialogue between communities and researchers, engaged in varied forms of knowledge exchange. We seek to leverage these knowledge exchange activities by harnessing the insights of practitioners, policy makers, academics and students in Latin America and in the UK, who are involved in work addressing risk, resilience and adaptation experiences in collaboration with local communities.Period | 5 May 2019 |
