Design PGR research symposium

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in conference

Description

A one day informal meet up on themes related to digital jewellery including: the intersection of creative practice and new materialism, adornment and assemblages, the absurd and uncanny, body studies, wearables as architecture, living materials and biodesign, care and wellbeing, virtual and mixed reality, commercial and industrial approaches, human-computer interaction, and social computing, among others.
The day aims to extend an existing network around themes related to digital jewellery, to document the range of artistic, theoretical and industrial approaches that digital jewellery is a part of, and eventually, to disseminate practice. Through revisiting Vones’ digital jewellery manifesto and sharing work in progress, we aim to open up a new space beyond current contemporary jewellery to identify what is at stake and ask how jewellery is relevant now. A flexible open session after lunch is put aside for handling, discussion and networking.
Invited speakers: Zhiyang Ding (ECA), Mette Laier Henriksen (Copenhagen School of Design & Technology), Nantia Koulidou (SHU), Gina Hochstein (Unitec, NZ), Katharina Vones (RCA), Sarah Kettley (ECA), Lynne Craig (ECA/EFI/DI), Line Rumhult (Design School Kolding), and Maria MacLennan (ECA).
