Description

I gave the Keynote Address at the Development Studies Association Scotland conference, Edinburgh, September 2012. The presentation was titled ‘The Genealogy of the Region within Indian Social Science Discourse’ and was co-authored by Dr Veena Naregal (IEG Delhi). The paper questioned the category of the region as it appeared in political, official and social science discourses in India between the 1930s and 1960s. The presentation encouraged academic researchers and development practitioners to rethink a key methodological concept within development studies.
