This conference commemorates the 250th anniversary of the birth of the German author E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822) by advancing research on Hoffmann as pioneer in literary investigations into the body. Researchers from diverse regions and all career stages, including the UK and Ireland, North America, Central Europe, Turkey, and India, will explore themes that are currently shaping the future of the Humanities, such as artificial intelligence, the non-human, marginalized identities, neurodiversity, and disability studies. Interdisciplinary perspectives on the body will be presented with reference to literature, visual culture, music, and digital humanities, incorporating new and innovative methodologies like virtual reality.
