DescriptionThe Stem Cell Challenge.
This lively public debate at the internationally renowned Edinburgh Book Festival considered the ethics of stem cell harvesting and the implications of stem cell research as a swiftly evolving technology which provides both hope and concern. Speakers and members of the public explored and compared the relationships between political ideology, ethics and regulation of stem cell research in the United Kingdom and United States. This event took place as part of a series of five 2007 Edinburgh International Book Festival public events organised by the Genomics Forum. Other events related to DNA databases, genetic identity, the nature/nurture debate, and the ‘future of nature’.
