Description

With Alan Barr. By the time of this seminar, Scotland will have made its fundamental constitutional decision. But some of the main subjects of this seminar have always been different in Scotland; and others are getting to be more different anyway. So as Scotland moves to set up its own tax administration and deal with the devolved taxes, life is certainly not dull for those working to help clients to plan for succession. There have been a wealth of court decisions on important matters in relation to wills trusts – and in particular powers of attorney and other matters on incapacity. On the tax front, the freeze in the IHT nil rate band continues to bite, along with rules tightening the position on debts and various other matters. Prospective change is again in the air on fundamental trust and succession matters. This seminar covers the field of succession, trusts, taxes in connection with these and similar matters in Scotland and beyond. There will be a review of case law and statute, and coverage of material emanating from HMRC and other bodies - as well as some thinking about that uncertain future. This seminar provides a vital review and preview for anyone working in the area - comprehensive coverage with detailed materials, backed by vital practical experience, delivered with a light touch. Keep up to date with changes, in a changed Scotland.
