Feminist Urbanism: What is it and Why now?

In the wake of Councillor Holly Bruce's motion to embed the principles of feminism into Planning within Glasgow, this event will explore what Feminist Urbanism is and what it might look like. It will consider why is it is critical, at this time, and how we might embed this approach into how we think about our shared environments.
The event will take the form of a round table discussion to explore the principles and the need for Feminist Urbanism. Daisy Narayanan and Jude Barber will co-lead a conversation with Councillor Holly Bruce of Glasgow City Council (who raised the motion) and Professor Suzanne Ewing of Women Make Cities Initiative. Together, they will reflect on their work and contributions to this topic whilst also considering how to move forward.
Audience members are invited to take part in the conversation in a convivial way and to share ideas and thoughts together over course of the event.
‘Feminist Urbanism – what is it and why now?’ provides a key opportunity to consider what a feminist approach to the evolution of our cities and places might look like. More importantly, how we might come together to make this happen.
