Ms Boulanger’s PhD dissertation is a thorough investigation of Angolan post-independence literature and its contribution to the (writing of) history of the nation. The thesis is well-presented and proofread, and well-structured too. The analysis of the primary and secondary sources is sound and rigorous. It is an excellent contribution to the field of Postcolonial Lusophone Studies, with the originality of intertwining two usually disparate disciplines: literature and history.
