Description
Wet-lab and clinical research has a significant environmental impact, and urgent action needs to be taken to enable greener practices. Some key points from the workshop report include the need for:• Environmental sustainability to be prioritised in the biomedical research ecosystem
• The development of additional evidence and tools to enable greener practices
• The acceleration of greener practices in clinical research
• Changes in research culture to promote greener behaviours.
The report was launched yesterday at a panel session run by the Academy of Medical Sciences’ FORUM, at the Royal Society conference on ‘Sustainability in the research and innovation endeavour’. The panel session particularly reflected on the challenges of enabling greener clinical research practice. If you would like to watch the panel session, the livestream of the conference will be uploaded to the Royal Society’s YouTube channel.
