Description
In October 2015 Laura Richards and Rebecca Collins initiated a collaboration to explore how gender and identity is performed online through ‘The Performing Research Network’. Using anonymous tweets collected during Laura’s research into Sport England’s recent This Girl Can campaign, Rebecca developed an audio-based performance piece animating Laura’s research that seeks to question the extent to which a ‘girl’ identity is embodied when tweeting about sport. In this presentation, Laura and Rebecca share their perspectives on the research and the subsequent performance project. In doing, so they aim to stimulate discussion around the performance of online identities, gender, sport, girlhood and the potential to share and perform research.
