A workshop delivered at the Visitor Studies Group's 2026 conference 'Experimenting with our Practice'.
In this hands-on creative workshop attendees from the UK Museums sector were invited to use the new 'Field Guide to Artist-Researcher Collaborations' from Jimmy Turner, Rhiannon Bull, Jean McEwan and Susan Morrison to explore the use of creative methods in conceptualising, designing, and ethically practicing
collaborations with artists and other freelance creative professionals.
They were invited to consider the possibility of collaborating with artists and other creative practitioners in their projects through engaging with some of creative activities found in the Field Guide, including:
- Making a creative map exploring their journeys to find themselves in the workshop;
- Crafting a ‘colabinet’ in which to store the most important and precious elements of their project(s);
- Writing a poem which drew together their reflections.
