Inaugural Lecture: 'Crime and Punishment in a Small Nation: Why Penology Matters'Lesley McAra, Chair of Penology delivered her inaugural lecture as part of Edinburgh Law School's 'Women in Law' centenary celebrations. Abstract: Drawing on new findings from the Edinburgh Study of Youth Transitions and Crime, this lecture will offer an assessment of the likely effectiveness of contemporary strategies (linked to the Scottish Government’s National Performance Framework) aimed at reducing crime and ensuring that we live our lives safe from disorder and danger.
