Description

Curating a More Ethical University: Bringing Creative Methods into all we do, building a map with the Binks Hub.

Our Unique Creative Purpose (UCP) in this session was to create in the room with our fellow conference attendees some routeways towards integrating art and creativity into all aspects of our work in the Academy. We shared insights from the first two years of our work at the Binks Hub (University of Edinburgh), using these as provocations for the room to create artistic ‘stepping stones’ towards a creative academy, which we all then co-curated into a map towards this destination.

It was a combination of presentation, making sessions, and co-curation of the installation/map. In the first hour we used a series of five short presentations about our work as prompts for the audience to then collaboratively produced stepping stones with us in short making sessions. These sessions were centred on the ways we brought Creative Methods into 1) Research (Presentation + Making); Teaching and Training (Presentation + Making); Community engagement and Participation (Presentation + Making); Communications (Presentation + Making).

In the final 30 minutes we gathered all the stepping stones produced by the group and co-curated them into a map of routeways towards the greater integration of creative methods into the Academy.
