JBS Haldane Lecture

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in conference

The JBS Haldane Lecture will recognise an individual for outstanding ability to communicate topical subjects in genetics research, widely interpreted, to an interested lay audience. This speaker will have a flair for conveying the relevance and excitement of recent advances in genetics in an informative and engaging way. Professor Enrico Coen is a plant developmental geneticist who is fascinated by how patterns of gene activity can lead to the generation of tissue shapes, like petals, wings or hearts. Working together with computer scientists and mathematicians he arrived at simple and testable hypotheses for the genetic control of shape formation.
