Description

Organiser and speaker. This is the opening event of the Language and Violence research strand. It aimed to explore the links between forms of violent action and its experience, and the ways in which they are expressed or encoded in language. Sessions will present ideas across different cultural and linguistic contexts, and from a variety of disciplinary perspectives (literary and linguistic studies, translation, memory studies). Contributions are designed to encourage open discussion, exchange, and experimentation with ideas and ways of formulating original research questions.
