Description

'The Public and the Private in the Roman Law of Sale': This paper reexamines the relationships between the concepts of "public" and "private" in the Roman law of sale using documentary evidence of commercial practice. It is argued that a greater appreciation of the complexity of Roman categories and the interaction between public and private contexts are required for future research into sale as a commercial contract.
