Description
Locally Sourced is a showcase from British Council and Scottish Documentary Institute’s ‘Stories of Cities' series. 'Stories of cities' was created by the Scottish Documentary Institute as a travelling workshop from one city to another in order to get local filmmakers to celebrate where they live. The idea is to relay creative documentary skills in developing and emerging countries in order for up-and-coming filmmakers to have creative tools to explore their new sense of identity and empower local filmmakers to be in control of their own national image. Those intensive 7 day film-led workshops raise the ambition, knowledge and skills of local documentary filmmakers with the bonus of creating beautiful short films for an international market. It is important that they feel their stories matter and contribute to the international documentary community. Thanks to the great collaboration with British Council Film and their regional offices they have been able to access places such as Libya at turning points in their history. Hopefully the films presented here will show that "quiet" stories behind the headlines have the power to move us.Period | 20 Sept 2013 |
