Description
Prof. Andrew McIntosh and Dr. Matthew Iveson met with Clare Haughey (Scottish Government Minister for Mental Health) and Dr. John Mitchell (Principal Medical Officer Psychiatry). The meeting was held at the Scottish Parliament building.Recent developments in psychiatric medicine, big data, and psychiatric genomics were discussed. This included some discussion on potential public health messages for individuals with common mental health conditions, and the potential of large genomic resources such as the Guthrie Spot cards for advancing psychiatric research. The further benefits of these resources for informing and improving public health were emphasised.
