Description
Meetings with Makerere University to discuss establishing a One Health Living Lab in Uganda- met with colleagues from, and visited, both Makerere University Centre for Health & Population Research (MUCHAP) and Makerere University Biomedical Centre (MakBRC).
- visited Iganga-Mayuge Health & Demographic Surveillance Site (HDSS) which consists of 101,000 individuals in 22,000 households who have approximately 680,000 livestock, all co-living in 22 villages across two districts. Established in 2005, the cohort features well-curated demographics and health outcomes; which we now ant to link to livestock and environmental data to create an exemplar One Health Living Laboratory model.
Also visited the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre & Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) to hear about their semen and embryo transfer activity and efforts to develop genetic approaches to improve animal productivity in the region.
