Radical Craft Symposium

Description

This symposium, organised by Craftspace focuses on craft, making and materials. Speakers from the UK, Japan and Europe will discuss the significant contribution to creative practice and wider thinking about culture made by artists showing in the exhibition. It aims to provide a forum to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration between venues, artists, specialist organisations, groups and studios. Mike Inglis produced a 15minute documentary for the conference of Erkki Pekkarinen's practice and environment featuring a discussion of the promotion of contemporary Finnish folk art. Appearing in the film: Erkki Pekkarinen, Radical Craft exhibitor; Raija Kallioinen, Coordinator for Cultural Affairs at Maaseudun Sivistysliitoo/Union for Rural Culture and Education.
