Ready? Flyte!

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesPublic Engagement – Public lecture/debate/seminar

Description

An offshoot of the History of Distributed Cognition Project, made possible by the support from CAHSS Knowledge Exchange and Impact Grant (University of Edinburgh), 'Ready? Flyte!' was an event organised as the main component of the KE&I project entitled 'In Search of New Makars'. The event involved two poetic exchanges of insults, with the audience getting to choose the winner. The first of these was the performance of the famed Flyting of Dunbar and Kennedy, the other provided an original collaborative poem prepared and performed specifically for this occasion. Both flytings were preceded by the talk from Dr Elizabeth Elliott (University of Aberdeen) discussing connections between flyting and distributed cognition.Recently, a video recording of the event has also been made publicly available through YouTube.
