Description

Main speaker at a Westminster/Royal Society Edinburgh event on Immigration.

Text from invitation: Royal Society of Edinburgh - “Scottish and UK Immigration Policy after Brexit” – Professor Jonathan Portes and Professor Christina Boswell - Wed 22nd Nov 5 pm – Committee Room 11. The Royal Society of Edinburgh would like to invite you to hear from two leading immigration experts on “Scottish and UK Immigration Policy after Brexit – evaluating options for a differentiated approach”. Professor Christina Boswell and Professor Jonathan Portes will discuss the potential policy options available for Scotland in a post-Brexit UK, following a paper by Professor Boswell and colleagues of the same title. With a government consultation on post-Brexit immigration scheduled for publication later this year and Scottish population projections indicating significant demographic challenges ahead, the time is perfect to look at how other countries have managed a differentiated approach, and discuss what might work for Scotland (and indeed other parts of the UK).
