The Observatory of Children’s Human Rights Scotland hosted a seminar with Gerison Lansdown as our key speaker on Friday 7th March 2025. Prof Lansdown shared her latest work on children’s rights and their evolving capacity, with a particular focus on parents’ and carers’ roles in supporting children’s human rights.Gerison Lansdown has published and lectured internationally on the subject of children’s rights. She has worked with the Committee on the Rights of the Child on several general comments and was involved in the drafting of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Publications include The Evolving Capacities of the Child, Innocenti Research Centre, 2005. She is an adjunct professor at Carleton University Canada, as well as at University College Cork, has an Honorary Doctorate from the Open University, Carleton University and the University of East London, and an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Central Lancashire.
