Description

Our aim was to unite Deaf Scottish Highlanders of all ages on a multi-day journey through learning about climate science (fire, water), noticing in the natural world (observational walking), preparing for climate-induced disasters (wildfire, flood), and storytelling about these concepts to share with other signers (making short films). Led by an interdisciplinary team of four Deaf STEAM scientists -- Dr Audrey Cameron, Dr Gabrielle Hodge, Ley Bergeron, Leyla Craig and Nick Craig -- we worked with Deaf children in Portree on the Isle of Skye and in Dingwall near Inverness. We also shared our experiences with Deaf elders at the Deaf Club in Inverness.
