Description
In the late summer of 1970, Edinburgh College of Arts acted as the venue for a ground-breaking exhibition entitled Strategy: Get Arts, curated by Professor Richard Demarco, which featured Joseph Beuys, as well as other now canonical figures of post-1945 art such as Gerhard Richter, Blinky Palermo, Sigmar Polke and Günter Uecker.
This hour-long documentary, featuring archive photographs by George Oliver of this important event, takes the form of an interview between the artist Alexander Hamilton (an assistant during the exhibition) and Dr Christian Weikop, Senior Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary German Art. The screening of the film will be preceded by a brief introduction.
