Description
Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) - RSE joint session during the SEB Annual Symposium 2024. Abstract:The biological clock is a fascinating example of how genomes, in cells, build organisms. Its 24-hour rhythms adjust the daily lives of plants (and humans) in ways that we now understand, at least in the lab model plant, Arabidopsis. This is among the areas of biology that have Arrived, in the sense that “The Economics of Arrival” (Katherine Trebeck and Jeremy Williams, 2019) argues that developed economies have Arrived. Simultaneously, the nature and climate crises demand new research, to stop damaging our environment and to build a circular bio-economy. Recognising Arrival in our research offers researchers, research communities and research institutions an opportunity to respond to these drivers.
