I organised and facilitated a students workshops exploring the use of stone with Carles Oliver Barceló, Steve Webb, Hutton Stone, Historic Environment Scotland and the Stone Federation.BACKGROUND
The Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (ESALA) wishes to actively collaborate with industry, government and communities to build challenge-led briefs and studios which showcase demonstrable ethical, social, cultural, economic and environmental impacts.
ESALA is a home for developing meaningful modes of architectural education: education that nurtures and strengthens individual attributes and capabilities; education that supports informed, accessible and just paths to the co-creation of our built environment; education that believes in the potency of architecture as a force with which to repair, maintain and care for our communities and our planet.
AIMS
To table, overlay, simplify and refine a number of stone focused details, generated by current 4th year ESALA students.
To discuss the detail as a nexus of broader concerns, which consolidate questions around carbon, labour and culture.
