Description
As co-director of the Binks Hub, I was involved in organising the launch event: a creative and interactive exhibition. Held at Dovecot Studios, we pushed the boundaries of what is meant by academic research. Over drinks and discussion, there was tapestry weaving, music, poetry and pottery – which we invited attendees to create as well as consume over the course of the evening.Other exhibits included a special performance from Scottish Opera’s Breath Cycle project which is helping those experiencing long Covid, and film, photography, and zines that have been used in creative and participatory research.
The Binks Hub is a research hub at the University of Edinburgh which demonstrates how, by working together with artists and communities, universities can co-create transformative research that redresses social inequalities and changes people’s lives for the better.
