'The Politics of LGBTQ Portraiture'

  • Glyn Davis (Speaker)

Activity: Academic talk or presentation typesInvited talk

I was invited to give a tour and talk at the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh for LGBT History Month. The talk drew attention to the lack of information about sexual orientation on the plaques around the gallery. Focusing on a bust of the poet Edwin Morgan, the talk asked whether or not it was possible to read the sitter's sexual orientation from the aesthetics of the sculpture.
