Description
Think Play: An Innovative Learning Week Project with Towerbank Primary SchoolThink Play was a week long project that engaged Edinburgh University and ECA students in a collaborative project with Towerbank Primary School to develop designs to improve the playground. The project began with a group of school pupils coming to ECA to launch the project and brief the students. During the course of the week the students conducted fieldwork at Towerbank, engaging with pupils, staff and parents through a series of research events to develop ideas and priorities for the playground design. The project concluded with an exhibition in the playground of the students’ design proposals. Outcomes have included the manufacture and installation of bespoke scooter cuffs that were designed to improve secure storage for the children’s scooters and a ‘master plan’ for the playground as a whole. The project has also provided a platform from which to launch other educational collaborations between the school and Edinburgh College of Art, which are ongoing.
