On Wednesday, April 3rd, the Montclair Kimberley Academy History Department will host Thomas Jefferson and the First War on Terror, presented by Frank Cogliano, Professor of American History at University of Edinburgh. Thomas Jefferson and the First War on Terror will inform and entertain lecture attendees on how Thomas Jefferson and the United States responded to the actions of the Barbary pirates in the Mediterranean Sea in the early 1800’s.
Currently a member of the advisory board of the International Center for Jefferson Studies, Cogliano’s research is mainly concerned with the political, cultural and diplomatic history of revolutionary and early national America. He has published scholarly articles and book chapters in Britain and the United States.
