Description

I was invited to give a talk at the University of York by the History of Art department. The talk explored the relationships between cinema and trees, concentrating in particular on films by James Benning. Engaging with ideas about environmental mediation (John Durham Peters) and 'tree time' (Robert Macfarlane), the talk asked: what would a film made by a tree look like?
