Description
The Closing Event was a free-of-charge day-long conference held at the Scottish Centre for Conservation Studies, Minto House, University of Edinburgh. It brought together partners and interested bodies from across the heritage, social housing and academic sectors and beyond. The day included a number of talks, tours, and other contributions from several of our national project partners, such as the Twentieth Century Society and DOCOMOMO (Documentation and Conservation of the Modern Movement), as well as representation from some of our local community partnerships, such as representatives from Wester Hailes' 'Our Place in Tme'. The day began with a walking tour of the newly category ‘A’ listed Cables Wynd House and Linksview House in Leith, led by Dawn McDowell of Historic Environment Scotland, and was followed by a series of talks on the history and documentation and future of tower blocks. The day ended with a workshop on the history and recording of the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh by Eoghan Howard of 'Our Place in Time'. Throughout the day the Tower Block exhibition was in place, together with our interactive Museum Box.Period | 12 Jun 2018 |
