On Thursday, 16 October 2025, AIT will host a talk on Translating Trauma: Ethical Guidelines for Documentary Content. The talk will be given by Professor Charlotte Bosseaux, Chair in Audiovisual Translation Studies at the University of Edinburgh.The talk will cover the following:
- Ethical considerations in translating emotional and trauma-related documentary content
- Insights from the project The Ethical Demands of Translating Gender-Based Violence
- Experimental guidelines for subtitling sensitive material
- Challenges and pressures faced by audiovisual translators working with trauma testimonies
- Support needs for professionals handling gender-based violence and trauma content
