Description
In this two-day Utopia Lab Jimmy Turner and Francesca Vale presented their visions of a utopia in which everyone has an equal but individual seat at the table. Eleven participants from both within and without the university responded to these visions by designing and creating chairs designed to offer comfort and community to people of all descriptions and abilities. The chairs produced were then the starting point for a curatorial exploration in which the group considered how the chairs interact with one another and what they represent for the world or worlds they inhabit. Collectively the group considered what Utopia means, and how it could be a useful crucible in which to explore positive change, and publicly exhibited their chairs and associated materials at the end of the second day.Day 1: Conceptualisation, Design and Making
