Description
This half-day policy event was chaired by Professor Jim Watson and co-hosted by the UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) and the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI), and:Shared recent Local Authority Engagement in UK Energy Systems (LEUKES) research findings and policy insights to support LA engagement with energy in the UK
Facilitated a dialogue between LEUKES researchers, LA practitioners, key policy-makers, policy experts and intermediaries in relation to: local government’s roles in energy systems and services; the institutional changes needed to support local authorities fulfilling this role effectively; and the role of different levels of government in supporting systematic LA action on energy saving and clean energy, where this is a cost effective contribution to a low energy, low carbon system.
We invited several discussants from a range of backgrounds to reflect on the presentation of research findings and to engage in a panel discussion with the aim of stimulating discussion from a range of perspectives.
