"Who Is Coming For Dinner?" is the first of a series of webinars which are part of the interdisciplinary platform Food Futures. The first episode takes its inspiration from our relation to food during Covid-19 focusing on the intersection of food, humanity, art science and technology. The first Zoom episode will be moderated by Jenny Marketou multidisciplinary artist, educator and co-founder of Food Futures. This panel convenes with Amanda McDonald Crowley, independent cultural worker, curator, and educator, NY; Lily Dosina the WIC Program Manager at HungerFree NYC; Gianina Enriquez, Community Organizer from La Jornada Food Pantry at Queens Museum NY; Stephen Hodson senior marketing professional, London; Dimitra Kondylatou visual artist living in Athens; Despina Meimaroglou,Greek multi-media conceptual artist; Sreejata Roy visual artist founder the Museum of Food, India; Tassos Smetopoulos founder of the grassroots non-profit Steps, Athens; and Maria-Athina Tzioka, co-founded an organic food market & emerging community called Mpostani, Athens. Food Futures is an interdisciplinary art platform developed in collaboration between Jenny Marketou, multidisciplinary artist, professor of New Media Art and Social Engagement at The New School of Social Research New York, Kostas Prapoglou, archaeologist-architect, independent curator and contemporary art writer based in Athens and founder of non-profit arts organization artefact athens, and Penny Travlou, cultural geographer and ethnographer, lecturer at Edinburgh College of Art and Co-director of the Feminist Autonomous Centre for Research in Athens. During a series of episodes, Food Futures invites guests (such as artists, scholars, biologists, ecologists, chefs, historians, activists, farmers and other professionals) to discuss and share experiences, thoughts and practices around food and the role of food in our globalized world and in a moment where the current pandemic is bringing this conversation to the forefront of our everyday life.
