25 Years of Scottish Social Attitudes: Attitudes to Gaelic, national identity, Independence and EU membership

Press/Media: Public Engagement Activities

Description

Invited contribution to the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) podcast series.  I was invited to contribute to the podcast on Scotland, which spotlighted the work of ScotCen (the Scottish Centre for Social Research) and celebrated 25 years of the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey.  I was asked to speak about the research on Public Attitudes to Gaelic from 2012 and 2021 (based on two research projects) and to consider the value of surveys of social attitudes to the field of Gaelic language policy and planning, from the perspective of an academic and as someone who has worked in national policy and planning (as a Board Member of Bord na Gaidhlig between 2014 and 2017).
