Discusses the various ways in which the technologies underpinning bitcoin, i.e. blockchain, are being used in scientific research, what new opportunities these present and what the risks or downsides might be.  The interview with Dr Pagliari drew on her recent invited speech on ethical issues, given at a symposium on blockchain for biomedical research, which took place in London in November 2017.
