Standardised training for police needed: De-escalation training can improve trust in police.

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

I was invited to interview with Ishmaila Alfa on CBC’s Metro Morning Show on the subject of “police de-escalation”. A great opportunity to comment on much needed training and understanding for police services to allow them to better serve our communities. However, we need to start with a universally accepted definition of de-escalation and the development of standardised training before implementation and evaluation to ensure police are being as effective as possible.
