Description
Data extracted from Roslin servers. This relates to simulation data and data on the genomics of osteochondrosis of the horse.
Abstract
Osteochondrosis (OC) in horses is a developmental disease of the horse for which there is a genetic pre-disposition. This data includes Illumina Equine SNP50 BeadChip data on 348 US Thoroughbreds, classified as cases and controls for OC, and a further 836 UK Thoroughbreds with no phenotype data. This data was analysed using both GWAS and genomic selection methodologies, but no candidates and only weak prediction was achieved. This was attributed to the data being too small in number and hence lacking power.
